Medicare with Thatch

Thatch offers an Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement ArrangementIndividual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement An employer-funded arrangement that reimburses employees tax-free for individual health insurance premiums and qualified medical expenses, instead of the employer offering a group health plan. Also called a CHOICE Arrangement. This guide applies to members who are 65 or older, turning 65 within three months, qualifying due to a disability, or have household members meeting these criteria.

Medicare plans eligible for Thatch

To use your Thatch allowanceallowance The amount an employer makes available to help employees pay for coverage or eligible expenses., you must be enrolled in one of these options:

  1. Medicare Parts A and B together
  2. Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage) alone

If you have options 1 or options 2, you can also use your allowanceallowance The amount an employer makes available to help employees pay for coverage or eligible expenses. for Part D (prescription drug coverage) and Medigap supplemental coverage.

Enrollment steps

How you use Medicare with Thatch depends upon your current Medicare enrollment status, if any.

  1. Complete the Medicare Enrollment form (one-time submission).
  2. Complete benefits onboarding in Thatch.
  3. Use your Thatch card for recurring payments or submit reimbursement requests.

Medicare EasyPay converts quarterly payments to monthly billing (allow 6–8 weeks for the adjustment). You can set this up at medicare.gov.

Reimbursements typically process within 10–12 business days, with funds sent to your connected bank account.

Dental and vision coverage

If your employer offers it, Medicare-eligible members may enroll in individual dental and vision plans through Thatch. To do so:

  1. Sign up using your Thatch invitation email.
  2. Add your information and review your allowanceallowance The amount an employer makes available to help employees pay for coverage or eligible expenses..
  3. Schedule a Medicare broker meeting or confirm your current plan.
  4. Complete onboarding.
  5. Select dental and/or vision plans.
